As part of the World Day of safety and Health at work and in reference to this year’s centenary, the International Labour Organisation plans to take stock of years of action to improve safety and health at work. The ILO also intends to engage in discussions on the impact of technological, organisational, demographic and climate change on further work in this area.

On the occasion of the World Day of safety and Health at work, the ILO will publish a report detailing its 100-year history of commitment to protecting life and promoting a safe and healthy working environment. The report will present the development of the field of Osh since before the establishment of the ILO in 1919, taking into account significant turning points that have strongly influenced the way the field of Osh operates.

  • assess and document the occupational risks associated with the work carried out and take the necessary risk mitigation preventive measures, and inform workers
  • on the occupational risks associated with the work carried out and on the principles of protection against risks,
  • carry out, at its own expense, tests and measurements of health-damaging factors, record and store the results of those tests and measurements and make them available to staff,
    take into account the protection of the health of young people, pregnant or breastfeeding workers and disabled workers as part of preventive measures,
  • directs admissions to work and staff for pre -, post-and follow-up medical examinations and shall comply with the prohibition on admission to work of an employee without a current medical certificate stating that there are no contraindications to work in a particular position,
  • as well as without the appropriate qualifications required for the performance of certain duties and sufficient knowledge of the rules and rules of Health and safety at work,
  • provide staff employed in particularly onerous conditions with adequate food and drink, free of charge, where necessary for preventive reasons,
  • consult workers or their representatives on all activities relating to health and safety at work, in particular regarding the assessment of occupational risk in the performance of specific work,
    ensure the execution of orders, speeches, and decisions issued by supervisors of working conditions.
